about

The magnum opus. The jewel in the crown. The last hurrah. Wrecked Angles was a long time coming for us and by far the most laboured over record that we made. We had tapes and tapes of mean riffs, mp3s of distorted jams, and midi compositions to be fleshed out in the practice room. I think by this time the care-free attitude of the early songs was out of the window and a commitment to pushing ourselves was well established. Songs were laboured over musically but vocals pretty much heard for the first time in the studio. It was hard work finishing this album but I think we were all pretty pleased with it. I fully regret introducing a keyboard (at least the sub-bassy Microkorg that ended up on there) and a few songs are a bit Jekyll and Hyde-y for me, where the end doesn't seem to relate to the beginning, but WHATEVER. We did it, we completed the album and played our last shows shortly after. I believe the album actually came out after we broke up, which was perfect for us. Shambolic until the end. We played tons of shows, slept on tons of floors, met lots of great people and played to more than our fair share of modestly filled rooms. We did it because we loved it and it's what we did. We did the work so it'd get made. Our band was our life, but it could have been anybody's, they just may have not paid as close attention to the eyebrows. about

An Emergency Exeter, UK

An Emergency were a three-piece post-punk band from Exeter, England. Active 2003-2008. The group consisted of singer- guitarists, Ben Woodhouse and Dan Reeves, as well as drummer, Tom Drakett. The group’s breakneck-paced style of angular rock was indebted to the American punk and hardcore scenes of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Photo by Owen Richards. ... more
